Maybe I'm just the average disgruntled sports fan of a team who has yet to win the big one, but I find that the reputation of the Colorado Rockies is a bit upsetting. Many teams can only dream of developing a superstar out of a previously unknown talent. However, it seems that the Colorado Rockies' best shot at another World Series is to win with a team full of average players that have alot of heart.
Just like Saturday Night Live, it would seem that the Rockies have been portrayed as nothing more than a feeder system for better opportunities. With recent trades such as the New York Yankees $161 million for C.C. Sabathia, is there any hope for the Rockies to hold onto their good players? I believe that Todd Helton is only with the Rockies today because his career hit a downslope at the worst time possible.
Will Ferrell leaves SNL officially in 2000 to pursue a career in film and, would you know it, Dante Bichette is traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1999.
The story is much the same for the rest of SNL and the Colorado Rockies. Mike Meyers. Chris Farley. Adam Sandler. David Spade. Vinny Castilla. Matt Holliday. Andres Galaraga. Eric Young. The Rockies are consistent in their committment to upholding the staunch beckoning of the dollar. I suppose I should enjoy the few seasons I have left with Troy Tulowitzki because, if history is any indication, he will be sporting new attire in the near future as well.
Best of luck to the Rockies trainers in the mean time. I sincerely hope that we can witness another spectacular season of a Cinderella story (preferably without the ending of the Rockies being swept by the Red Sox).
