"Black out or Concussion?"

                                “Black out or Concussion?”

Black out or concussion? You decide but regardless it was a sad day in the bulldog nation when Bama went up 31 to 0 during the first half. We just seemed to lose our energy real fast and in a hurry. I believe the turning point was during the first drive. Alabama was driving down the field and we are thinking…. Damn those boys on their O-Line are huge. Then we get some pressure around the left end John Parker Wilson (Bama QB) throws and completes a pass to his halfback, who turns and takes it up field. Our defense lays a good lick on him and the ball comes loose…. GEORGIA BALL ! Wait a minute flag down on the play. Apparently while getting pressure on the QB our defensive end jumps in the air in attempt to tackle the QB while coming down his hand grazes and I mean grazes the QB’s helmet. Roughing the passer is the call… Bama Ball first down. What has our football come to when we stress such a rule. I can understand late hits and trying to knock the QB’s head off his shoulders for that penalty. But we did not obstruct or hinder the QB or his pass. They completed a good pass and then we knocked the piss out of him fair and square. So shortly after the penalty Bama scores. Momentum is the key and we lost it.

31 total unanswered points were scored on our defense in the first half. Alabama ran the ball on us, they threw the ball on us. These “Java The Hut” like guys disguised in Crimson jerseys they had on their defensive and offense line were controlling the game.

We came out in the second half and tried to make a game of it. We seemed to realize that with the big ogres blitzing us we need to get the ball off quick and let the short pass game develop. This worked great for us. And Prince Miller returned a great punt 92 yards for a touchdown. To bring us within 2 scores. The bulldogs were fired up and it seemed like they might pull it off. Those thoughts were quickly put to rest when Bama put 10 more points on us. We had two more scores to bring the final score to Bama 41 UGA 30.

Looking to the bright side, Georgia was looking explosive in the second half and if we can play like that all game I’m not sure who in the country could beat us. An even better note Florida got a good whippin’ from Ole Miss and Tennessee racked up another SEC loss. So with Vanderbilt the only team leading us in the SEC East, we still have a shot at making the big dance.

It is getting more and more clear every game that we need to put the ball in A.J. Green’s hands. With Moreno, Stafford, and a new explosive weapon like Green emerging, we can be lethal. A.J. seems to catch almost everything thrown at him. Diving, leaping, and catching balls in double coverage, this kid will be a special Bulldog before his college career is over.  He is already a mismatch on whoever you put him on, and he’s a true freshman.

But keep your heads up Dawg fans we lost to quite arguably the best team in the nation at the moment. And if we see them again in the SEC Championship, they wont beat us twice. We need to press forward and look to make a statement and blow our next opponents out of the water. But that will have to wait two weeks. Georgia is on a BYE week and then we have Tennessee, Vanderbilt , and then LSU.

Guys I would love to hear some feedback or take any questions you might have about the team or your thoughts on what’s going on.  Shoot me an e-mail at and I will answer your questions in upcoming blogs. GO DAWGS!
