Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl Is Legally Chaning His Name to Steelerstahl

Pittsburgh's Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is reportedly in the process of legally changing his name to Luke Steelerstahl for the Pittsburgh Steelers AFC Championship game Sunday versus the Baltimore Ravens.

Talk about a bold move. Talk about team pride. It's one thing for some of us to devote our e-mail addresses, screennames, or even tattoos to our favorite sports teams/players, but this is taking a huge next step.

Honestly, I'm jealous. The situation is absolutely perfect. The mayor of Pittsburgh has "Ravens" in his name when the Steelers are about to take on the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. Simply change your name to Steelerstahl, and you have the single greatest act of devotion to a sports team ever displayed. I mean, how am I ever going to be able to top that? I love the NFL, but I'm a college football fan at heart, and the Auburn Tigers are my team. I mean, what are the odds of a D-1 NCAA team being named the Bridges so that I can change my name to Tiger...

Obviously, this move has strong political motivations. Basically, if he goes through with this, he's got the mayor-ship locked down until he's six feet under--and the Steeler faithful might still elect him.

  1. On an additional note, I just found out that the -stahl suffix is from the German for "steel". So, essentially, his last name is now Steelsteel! LOL!
